Alumni Giving
Why should you give back to CBU?
There are three key reasons why alumni giving percentage matters to CBU and why you, as an alum, may want to consider an annual gift to the University.
First is that the alumni giving percentage is a “vote of support” in one’s alma mater. U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges" tracks the percentage and uses it as part of the calculation for its rankings. CBU currently ranks 24th among Southern colleges and universities, in part, because of our alumni giving percentage.
Second, alumni participation matters to many foundations and major donors. If the alumni support the school, then it sends a message that it is a place worthy of further investment with their major gifts.
Third, giving back as one is able shows a spirit of gratitude and thankfulness to the University and to the Christian Brothers, keeping it strong for the next generation.
I want to acknowledge the class of 1949 and congratulate them on having the highest alumni giving percentage of all CBU classes at 25 percent. Second place goes to the classes of 1955 and 1962 with 21 percent. It is easier for smaller classes to have higher alumni giving percentages, so kudos to the class of 1966 with the highest alumni giving percentage on record for a class of 100 or more alumni. Our goal is to raise each class alumni participation rate by the close of the fiscal year on May 31. The class with the highest giving percentage and the class with best overall improvement will each receive a special recognition plaque that will be publicly displayed on campus. Show us your class is the best! We’ll update your progress periodically on this page, so check back often for the latest stats.
