NOTES:

(1) DOIs in APA (6th): The DOI is preferred in APA. If a DOI (digital object identifier) is assigned to the article, include it in the reference instead of the URL. If there is no URL for content you retrieved online, include the URL of the homepage of the journal, newsletter or magazine. Typically, it is not necessary to include a database's URL; use it if the article is difficult to find otherwise. (Check with your instructor who may require the URL regardless.) See the APA Publication Manual, sections 6:31 and 7.01 for details.

(2) APA no longer requires dates accessed; MLA and Turabian both require these dates.

(3) Turabian directs you to use guidelines for print articles with online journals and magazines, including the URL as necessary.

(4) While APA prefers that you give the link to the website, use the direct URL if you think the article will be difficult to locate otherwise.
