NOTES:

(1) These examples pertain to pages purely designed for publication on the Web. Online journal articles and ebooks are treated differently. See the pages devoted to them for more details.

(2) You may have to look for author, organization, or sponsor names throughout the website. If available, try links labelled "About Us" or "Contact Us," if the information can't be found on specific pages.

(3) While APA provides sample entries for online message boards, blog posts, podcasts, and other specific publications found on the web, it does not provide an example for an ordinary website. We have adapted relevant samples to create the one shown here.

(4) With MLA, when no publisher or sponsor can be identified, so indicate with the abbreviation, N.p.

(5) With MLA, use whatever date you can find--day month year if all are available, year only if that is all that is given. If you can find no date, indicate this with the abbreviation, n.d.
