Traditional campus buildings have a single purpose. Academic buildings hold classrooms, laboratories, and lecture halls for formal learning. Student centers serve as less formal gathering places. The library, set apart from both, is a quiet space for studying. In most cases, residence halls are even further removed from the heart of academic life. CBU’s Living Learning Center, on the other hand, purposefully integrates a seminar classroom, study spaces, a faculty Learning Community Director’s office, and large social gathering and event spaces with a traditional dormitory.

The Living Learning Center at CBU offers an environment uniquely designed to nurture the expectation that education happens everywhere. This new, multi-purpose Center will include:

• Premium residence hall accommodations
• Public spaces (Commons) on each floor for both formal and informal gatherings
• Fully-equipped serving kitchen
• Classroom/Meeting room/Group Study room on main floor
• Exterior patio with firepit and seating accessible from the Main Commons
• Quiet study spaces
• Game and video areas
• Laundry and recycling facilities on each floor
• “CBU Green” features such as electric car charging stations, recycled construction materials, occupancy sensors, low-flow toilet fixtures, mechanical system sensors, etc.
