Overview

Engineering Labs are housed in St. Benilde Hall and the Nolan Engineering Center. From 2003 to 2005, the laboratory facilities for the entire engineering program went through a $3 million renovation. This renovation included the reconstruction of St. Benilde Hall as well as the purchase and maintenance of new equipment. This upgrade was funded by several sources including the Assisi Foundation and Christian Brothers University itself.

The new facilities contain state-of-the-art equipment. Each laboratory has generous power outlets as well as wireless network connections. Lighting and environmental issues have been carefully addressed to ensure that students will have a functional and pleasant educational environment.

The School of Engineering employs two full-time Lab Technicians to support the engineering laboratories. The Electronics Lab Technician, Mr. Henry Rhodes, provides support for engineering computer hardware and software. In addition, he is responsible for the support of all electronics equipment within the School of Engineering. The Mechanical Processes Technician, Mr. Bob Moats, is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the mechanical systems within the engineering labs.

Science Complex


In addition to the renovation of St. Benilde Hall, the CBU School of Sciences completed a $13.1million capital campaign to fund construction and renovation of facilities and the purchase and maintenance of new equipment. Construction of the new Cooper-Wilson Center for Life Sciences and renovation of the existing building, Assisi Hall Science Learning Center, was completed in the fall of 2008. The finished facilities, known as the Science Complex, includes over 75,000 square feet of classroom, laboratory, office, and multipurpose space.

In addition to meeting the needs of School of Science majors, the new Science Complex is used to teach engineering students core mathematics, physics, and chemistry classes and laboratories. These new facilities are state-of-the-art and significantly enhance the overall educational experience for engineering students.
