Welcome to the Literature & Languages department! Our department offers majors and minors in English, a major in English for Corporate Communications, Creative Writing and minors in French and Spanish.
- The traditional English major culminates with your presentation of a Senior Seminar paper to a committee of peers and faculty.
- The Creative Writing provides you an opportunity to learn and explore the fine craft of writing in a wide variety of methods and styles. With a skilled and widely published faculty, the Department offers beginning and advanced courses in fiction and poetry, along with courses in a range of other writing disciplines, such as creative non-fiction, screenwriting and dramatic writing.
- If you decided to major in English for Corporate Communications (ECC), you would need to take numerous upper-level courses in literature and writing and 15 hours in General Business courses. You would also be required to complete an internship with a local business or non-profit organization.
- Finally, our department could help you prepare for teaching English at the secondary level. English for Teaching Licensure includes 13 hours of enhanced student teaching as the culminating experience.
If you are majoring in a discipline other than Literature & Languages, we welcome you to consider our certificate program in professional writing, our minor programs in English, French, and Spanish or simply taking a class that best fits your interests!
