(Memphis)—Christian Brothers University will offer a bachelor of arts degree in university studies beginning Fall 2006.
A degree in university studies allows students from various educational and professional backgrounds to earn a degree partially based on their previous knowledge and experience.
“CBU enjoys a long standing reputation with adult, non-traditional, and professional students and this degree program provides the flexibility that many of those students look for,” said CBU academic vice president, Dr. Tony Aretz.
The degree in university studies, with a foundation in the School of Arts, combines educational and experiential learning outcomes with an academic focus in the liberal arts. The degree program is designed to incorporate a student’s transfer credits from two and four-year regionally accredited institutions as well as include credit for experiential learning and professional experience.
“The opportunity to combine one’s life experience with academic achievement creates an extremely individualized degree, “ said Aretz. “This type of degree not only ‘completes’ an education, but creates a unique educational experience preparing students for advanced career positions by merging demonstrated competence in practical settings with quality academics.”
