Neil Simon’s Rumors will be produced October 5-7 in the newly renovated Christian Brothers University Theater. A hilarious comedy by Neil Simon, Rumors is about four couples visiting the townhouse of a deputy New York City mayor and his wife to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. The New York socialites get more than they bargained for when they find the host of their party has been shot and the help is missing. The setting soon becomes a frenzy as other guests arrive and nobody can remember who has been told what about whom.
Encore, the University’s theatre club, helps sponsor the CBU fall productions and participates in other related events on campus such as volunteering as ushers during the spring debut of the renovated University Theater. “The newly renovated theatre will provide a wonderful, comfortable atmosphere for the cast, the crew, and the audience,” says Burton Bridges, vice president of the Encore Drama Club. Generally, members of the cast and crew of the CBU productions join Encore as it supports and promotes all aspects of the play. Encore is open to all students that have an appreciation for the performing arts.
The show times for Rumors are Friday, October 5, at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 6, at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 7, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $2 for ANY college student with ID and $2 for CBU faculty members. Tickets will be sold at the door, no reserved seating. Advance ticket sales will be provided on campus through members of the Encore Drama Club.
