Ross Opens CBU’s 2008 “Power Talks for Women”

Cathy RossMemphis- Christian Brothers University (CBU) continues the series “Power Talks for Women” with Cathy Ross, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for FedEx Express. She will be speaking in the CBU Theater on Thursday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m. Ross’s talk will center around five personal strategies she sees as vital to career growth and professional development.

A native of Henderson, Tennessee, Ross oversees the worldwide financial affairs of FedEx Express, the largest FedEx operating company. She is responsible for worldwide strategic and financial planning as well as analysis, reporting, forecasting and global controller functions. She manages over 2,300 finance professionals throughout the U.S., Asia, Europe, Middle East, Canada and Latin America.

Ross began her FedEx career in 1984 as an entry level financial analyst. She rose steadily through the ranks in both operations and finance to her current position. She served as a management preceptor in the FedEx Business Institute, instilling in FedEx managers the principles and practices of organizational leadership. She has been recognized throughout her career for her numerous outstanding contributions to the Express business.

In 2007, Ross joined other notable women of achievement as a member of the Tennessee Women’s Forum. Ross currently serves on the Board of Directors of Steelcase, Inc., the world’s largest office environments manufacturer. She has been active in or served on boards for the Memphis Food Bank, the Women’s Foundation of Greater Memphis, CBU Alumni Association, Habitat for Humanity and the American Cancer Society.

Ross holds an Accounting degree from CBU and a MBA from the University of Memphis.
