CBU Showstoppers Perform Broadway on Parkway

Broadway on Parkway, the first of the Christian Brothers University (CBU) Fall Concert Series, will be presented at the University Theater on Friday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m. With selections ranging from Les Miserables to The Full Monty, this concert appeals to all musical tastes.

Tommy Gaines, assistant professor of music, selected the theme for the night because of the universal attraction of Broadway musicals. The variation of musical selections will highlight a range of vocal talent. Gaines will direct the CB Singers and several private voice students who will perform solos, duets and trios. In addition, alumni and friends of CBU will be featured in musical selections. To round out the true “variety” aspect of the showcase, Gaines will perform several musical arrangements.

Incorporating new words to personalize featured songs such as “Willkommen” from Cabaret, the concert includes a variety of selections. The CB Singers will perform a medley of numbers from Les Miserables; “All the Things You Are” from Very Warm for May and “You Walk with Me” from The Full Monty. The evening also features musical selections from Man of La Mancha and Jekyll and Hyde.

Tickets are $5 for general admission and free to CBU students, faculty and staff. Tickets will be sold at the door and seating is open. For additional information, please email Johnny T. Gaines at jgaines@cbu.edu or call (901) 321-3390.  ###
