Greek Tragedy Renewed on CBU Stage

Christian Brother University (CBU) is proud to announce the dramatic presentation of Antigone to be held in the University Theater, October 10-12. Lewis Galantiere’s adaptation of this Greek tragedy opens the 2008-2009 season and is directed by Linda Dinwiddie.

As Antigone begins, the title character is plagued by the death of her two brothers at each other’s hand. Her uncle’s decision is to have an honorable burial for one brother but leave the other brother in the wasteland for the vultures. Antigone must struggle with the convoluted history of her family and how she will handle her current predicament. In this updated version of Sophocles’ tragedy trilogy, Antigone soon finds herself as the odd man out and must struggle with making the correct choice.

Show times for Antigone are Friday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 12 at 2:00 p.m. All performances will be in the University Theater. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $2 for ANY college student with ID and $2 for CBU faculty members. Tickets will be sold at the door, no reserved seating. Advance ticket sales will be provided on campus through members of the Encore Drama Club. For additional information, email Russell Brandon at encore@cbu.edu. ###
