Tau Kappa Epsilon and Alpha Xi Delta, two Greek organizations at Christian Brothers University (CBU), hosted the 2009 Annual Nite of Life finale event to support the Dream Factory of Memphis, a non-profit organization that helps make the dreams of critically ill children come true.
On April 25th, the Nite of Life finale event began with a trip to the Children’s Museum of Memphis where the children could “just be kids” for a day and forget about medical procedures and treatments. After exploring the museum, a cook-out was held on the CBU campus. The evening concluded with Tau Kappa Epsilon and Alpha Xi Delta’s presentation of a $7,000 check to the Dream Factory and the fulfillment of a dream to a one lucky child.
As part of this overall fundraising initiative, the CBU students raised funds through canning on street corners, a fish fry, and a teeter-totter marathon. Nite of Life is one example of the commitment to community service and civic responsibility embodied by both Tau Kappa Epsilon and Alpha Xi Delta.
The Dream Factory of Memphis grants dreams to children between the ages of 3 and 18 who have been diagnosed with critical or chronic illnesses. The organization is a 100% volunteer organization, using the donations from the community to make the dreams of these critically ill children come true. ###
