Melody Nabors (Registrar), pictured at left with CBU President John Smarrelli Jr., was honored with the 2012 Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award at the CBU Community Convocation on August 16.

Melody Nabors, Christian Brothers University’s Registrar, was honored with the Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award at the Christian Brothers University (CBU) Annual Convocation.

Since coming to CBU in August of 2001, Nabors has selflessly labored in many areas, including Graduate & Professional Studies, Student Financial Services, and currently the Registrar’s Office. She is described in the citation as professional, compassionate, gracious, efficient, and a woman of faith. Her colleagues see her as an individual who daily embraces the Lasallian values of faith, service and community in interactions with students, faculty and co-workers.

As Registrar, Nabors has worked to implement new programs on campus to improve advising for faculty and students. Additionally, she has participated on the team that planned and executed CBU’s first two outdoor Commencement Ceremonies. Nabors’ spirit of humility was evident in that when asked what the award meant to her, she responded, “I am humbled that my colleagues bestowed upon me such a prestigious award.  I am truly honored.”

The award — the highest presented by the University to faculty or staff — annually honors a CBU educator, nominated by his/her peers, who exemplifies the ideals of St. John Baptist de La Salle in the 21st century. Recipients must have been a Lasallian educator for at least five years, be actively involved in fostering the mission of Lasallian education, exemplify in his/her life the spirit of St. John Baptist de La Salle, and demonstrate an enthusiasm for the Lasallian tradition.
