Stephen R. Crisman has been appointed as the Vice President for Advancement at Christian Brothers University. Crisman will lead the University’s fundraising initiatives, including the Fund for CBU, capital campaigns, alumni and parent cultivation programs, and will serve as the resource liaison to the Board of Trustees Advancement Committee.
Crisman brings to CBU over 20 years of experience as a senior executive and professional fundraiser, mainly focused in the nonprofit sector. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Institutional Advancement at McMurry University, Abilene, TX. Prior to that appointment, Crisman was Regional Marketing Manager for Product Development with DuPont Chemical and held several positions with the American Red Cross, including six years as CEO in Austin, TX. He also has 10 years as a consultant in which he provided fundraising and strategic planning to numerous non-profit organizations.
“Steve is a wonderful addition to our team as we prepare for a comprehensive capital and endowment campaign,” notes Dr. John Smarrelli Jr., President of CBU. “His previous experience of fundraising at a faith based institution will ultimately pay great dividends for CBU.”
With a history of active community involvement, Crisman has served on the United Way Board and Stewardship Committee, was a Loaned Executive with United Way, President Elect with the Abilene Community Theatre, and held numerous positions with local and regional churches and athletic teams. He has also been a national instructor for fundraising and marketing with the American Red Cross.
Crisman earned his BA in Education and Natural Sciences from Alma College, Alma, MI and attended the Non-Profit Professional Management Development, Harvard University-JFK School of Government.
