BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Gulf South Conference women’s soccer coaches voted four Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs to the All-Gulf South Conference Team, and they named CBU head coach Kieron Heblich GSC Co-Coach of the Year.
Sophomore midfielder Camilla Rodrigues (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) was selected to the First Team after she scored seven goals with seven assists in 18 games, leading the Lady Bucs to a 12-4-2 record and a second-place finish in the GSC standings.
Sophomore midfielder Chelsea Cassacia (Germantown, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) was a Second Team selection after scoring one goal and two points in 18 games as a defensive-minded midfielder.
Frehsman defender Gabrielle Pilgrim (Rockford, Mich./Rockford HS) and senior defender Amanda Smith (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) joined Cassacia on the Second Team after anchoring the Lady Bucs’ back line. Pilgrim played 18 games and Smith played 16.
Heblich shared Co-Coach of the Year with West Florida’s Joe Bartlinski after guiding the Lady Bucs to a second-place finish in a season where they were picked to finish seventh.
The Lady Bucs return to action in the GSC semifinals Friday night at Brosnaham Park in Pensacola, Fla. They play at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of Thursday night’s matchup between Valdosta State and Alabama-Huntsville.
