Christian Brothers University’s Civil Engineering and Construction Management students delivered an outstanding performance at the recent Mid-South American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Symposium hosted by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Students competed in rigorous events, including the Steel Bridge, Concrete Canoe, Professional (Mead) Paper, Concrete Frisbee, and T-Shirt Design competitions.
The symposium brought together top engineering programs across the region, including the University of Arkansas, the University of Memphis, Tennessee Tech, Vanderbilt University, and others.

CBU students earned top placements in key events:
- Land Surveying Competition: 1st Place Overall
- National Qualifier
- Steel Bridge Competition:
- 2nd Place – Construction Economy
- 2nd Place – Construction Speed
- 2nd Place – Cost Estimation
- 3rd Place Overall
- National Qualifier
These accomplishments mean CBU students will advance to two national competitions in the summer of 2025, where they will represent CBU on a national stage.

This was an especially exciting symposium because Dr. Assadollahi’s 7-month old daughter, Eileen, got to watch her first Steel Bridge Competition!
“These students exemplify the technical skill, creativity, and teamwork that define our Civil Engineering and Construction Management programs,” said Dr. Andrew Assadollahi, Dean of CBU’s Gadomski School of Engineering. “We’re incredibly proud of their well-deserved success.”

In addition to earning recognition in competition, CBU’s Civil Engineering and Construction Management graduates continue to lead the University in career earnings. Starting salaries for graduates average over $70,000, with many earning more than $90,000 at graduation.
The CBU community looks forward to cheering them on as they head to nationals this summer.
