Students receiving Federal financial aid must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) conditions by the end of each Spring semester to receive financial aid for the next semester they intend to register for classes (Summer and/or Fall). Those who are found not meeting the conditions may file Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals.

To meet SAP conditions, students must satisfy BOTH qualitative and quantitative conditions by the end of the Spring semester:

QUALITATIVE:

Undergraduate Students Hours attempted/GPA

  • 1-23  attempted hours /1.50 GPA
  • 24-59 attempted hours/1.70 GPA
  • 60+ attempted hours/2.00 GPA

Graduate students must maintain a 3.0 GPA

QUANTITATIVE:

  • Successful completion (grade of D or better) of at least 67% of cumulative hours attempted. This can be calculated by dividing earned hours by attempted hours.
  • If you are not making satisfactory academic progress, undergraduate students should reach out to the Office of Academic Support at academicsupport@cbu.edu to start the process.
  • Graduate students can request a form from the Office of Financial Aid at finaid@cbu.edu.
  • Students filing SAP appeals should also make sure they have filed a FAFSA for the upcoming semester.
  • If your SAP is not approved, you will not receive federal financial aid for the upcoming semester.
