Biography

Dr. Nichole Knox is a great supporter of student success. She brings twenty-plus years of nursing experience into the classroom. Her graduate-level projects have focused on mentoring novice nurse educators. Her focus has shifted to developing academic support services to support pre-nursing, nursing, and post-graduation students. Her ultimate goal is to expand diversity in the nursing profession and workforce. Her belief is nursing programs should come up with opportunities to academically support students from all backgrounds. The nursing community is an awesome place to cultivate diversity.

Courses Taught

  • NURS 350 Foundations of Nursing

    This didactic, laboratory, and clinical course begins preparing the student to function as a provider of care. This course explores concepts, theories, and principles inherent in the roles.

  • NURS 456 Nursing BSN Seminar

    This course prepares students to take the NCLEX-RN examination by reviewing knowledge and skills presented in previous courses. An emphasis of this course is the application of critical thinking for effective test taking to enhance performance on the NCLEX-RN.

  • NURS 357 Pharmacology

    This course focuses on the basic drug classification, concepts and principles of pharmacology with special consideration for the health care provider role in developing a comprehensive approach to the clinical application of drug therapy. Implications relative to the utilization of drug therapy are examined. Dosage calculations are evaluated for competency.

Service and Community Engagement

Dr. Knox serves on the board of Sigma Theta Tau – Beta Theta at-Large Chapter (Nursing Honor Society)- as president-elect. As an active member of Beta Theta at Large, she is involved with volunteer opportunities in the community. She also serves on the board of the National Consortium of Nursing Academic Coaches as Secretary. She has participated in community events such as food drives and 5Ks. In her spare time, she coaches and supports nursing graduates in preparation for their licensure exams.
