Biography

Dr. Paul Dunaway earned his Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling Master’s degree in 2015 and his Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision in 2019, both from the University of Memphis. Paul is currently licensed in the state of Tennessee as a Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider (#4000). He is also a Nationally Certified Counselor (exp. 4/30/21) and a Clinical Rehabilitation Counselor (#00174696). Paul has been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy through EMDR Consultants and is a Certified Animal Assisted Therapist through the Consortium for Animal Assisted Therapy at the University of North Texas. Paul’s work experience in the mental health field covers the lifespan from children to geriatric and from adjustment issues to serious psychiatric conditions. He has worked in the community with youth in crisis and at inpatient hospitals with adolescent sex offenders and adults suffering from psychiatric emergencies. He also provided services at the former Exchange Club Family Center working with both domestic violence offenders and survivors. Paul routinely volunteers his services to local law enforcement agencies providing crisis de-escalation training. Paul is a retired US Army combat Veteran.
