The Center for Digital Instruction (CDI) holds events and training throughout the year. We provide opportunities for faculty to improve Canvas skills, redesign syllabi for better online learning, and develop new ways to reach students with technology.

We have four ways for you to learn Canvas at your own pace, each designed for the different ways that people learn.
The Canvas Quickstart — Our shortest tutorial for providing a basic understanding. The Canvas Basics Course — A short online training course designed in Canvas. Mastering Canvas Playlist — Watch this series of brief, instructional videos created by the CDI team. Canvas How-To Guides — These concise instructions help you do specific tasks in Canvas.Online Faculty Training
This five-week, fully online course takes what you’ve learned in Canvas Basics and moves into online course creation based on logical organization, established pedagogical frameworks, and student learning outcomes. Our experienced instructional designers lead this invaluable course.

Whether you’ve taught a course online for years or are developing your first one, this semester long class will help you build your course with online learning outcomes in mind, learn new technical skills and create a digital learning environment that will benefit you and your students. This class is facilitated by our entire team and is a mixture of asynchronous learning and synchronous web/in-person meetings. You will also experience one-on-one consultations with our Instructional Designers.
It is required that you take Online Faculty Training (OFT) before enrolling in Online Course Design (OCD). Register now to save your spot!
