Christian Brothers University (CBU) recently hosted its highly anticipated STEM Day, an interactive event that drew hundreds of high school students from across the region. The day highlighted the dynamic, creative, and problem-solving aspects of STEM, providing students with a firsthand look at the exciting opportunities within science, technology, engineering, and math.

Students had the chance to engage with CBU’s esteemed STEM faculty, who are known for their expertise and infectious enthusiasm. Professors led demonstrations and hands-on activities designed to showcase the real-world applications of STEM skills. Students left inspired by the range of possibilities in fields like artificial intelligence, engineering, and chemistry through a variety of interactive sessions including:

Anatomy exploration and skeleton reconstruction
DNA extraction from saliva
Chemical experiments with color-changing solutions
Concrete strength testing
Water purification techniques
Land surveying and applied trigonometry
Artificial intelligence and image processing
Drone flight for engineering applications
Mechanical engineering design competitions
Mini cannon construction

Students explored their creativity and problem-solving abilities by building mini cannons, experimenting with AI, and flying drones. Hands-on challenges, such as object reconstruction, material extraction, and diagnostic exercises, provided insights into the analytical problem-solving central to CBU’s STEM programs.

Through this showcase, CBU emphasized its commitment to making STEM accessible, engaging, and inspiring for future students. This dynamic day gave prospective students a memorable introduction to CBU’s campus, faculty, and STEM offerings, sparking excitement and curiosity about pursuing a future in STEM.
